Sometimes, the most fascinating discoveries are the ones you might walk right past.
During a paleontological field expedition in southern Utah, I had the opportunity to explore the Chinle Formation, a geological formation preserving evidence of life from the Late Triassic Period, more than 200 million years ago. What I love most about paleontology is that even the smallest fragments can tell us something about the animals that lived millions of years before us.
The identification of the pictured fossil material has not been confirmed to a particular species.
